Setup
Before you start selling
Always try to arrive at the craft show site at least an hour early, especially if you are using a tent. You will have to get the tent set up and your tables and desk/counter. Then decide how to display your products, with the small stuff in the front so it can be easily seen, keeping in mind the little kids who may make a grab and break something. Decide whether to put the empty boxes back in your vehicle or if you have room to put them under the tables and hide them with the tablecloths.
A lot of times some of your best customers will be other vendors who will do a little shopping before the show starts. Do your best to keep your booth neat and clean, and try to make your displays stand out. Depending on the season, you may want to have a few Christmas ornaments and garland decorating your booth, just don't let it detract from your displays. If you are supplied with electricity consider small twinkle lights.
You will make new friends with each craft show and see others from other shows. You can get lots of good advice and ideas from the other vendors, craft show people tend to be the nicest people. If another crafter next door needs extra space, try to set everything up to benefit both of you. If something in the next booth is in your way, politely try to resolve it.
If you are at a good show, you'll want to stay set up till the last minute. This way you'll be ready for the late shoppers. Often when they realize that
the show is about to close they'll make purchases. Always pack your "hottest" selling items last and keep the cash box handy.
